Lance, I admire you for returning to the tour,I am looking forward to you taking the yellow in what ever stage you can. I have watched you for many years and actually you have been the one to encourage me to cycle. I have been riding for 9 years and wondered what type of workout program that you do in order to get into the best riding shape. I would appreciate whatever you can provide to me. I have worked out since my early 20's and have always been specific in my workouts, probably because I was a personal trainer and sports med graduate, but with cycling it becomes more of a challenge. Thanks and look forward to hearing back from you. Ann

Lance, will you also write a book about the bikes (components) you use? And why? Thanks!

Dear Lance,

Whenever you chose to retire (hopefully never :-) ), will you please, PLEASE write a very detailed book about your training routines, and the techniques/nutrition you use to prepare for the Tour de France? I realize that there must be some secrecy in your mind about your training methods-- and for good reason given you don't want your close, cycling competitors potentially copying your methods and strategies while you currently compete. Everything that I've read about you suggests that you take a highly scientific approach to all aspects of your training regiment (fine-tuning the most minute detail), and those little differences surely make big differences in a sport in which seconds separate riders over long, tough courses. (We all know that .01% of the total time can frequently separate winners). I'm very curious about your choice and quantity of foods (how many grams/calories, etc.). Protein? Carbs? Fat? Supplements? (not steroids, but protein powders, if you use them). How many hours on the bike per day do you do? What terrain/changes in altitude do you seek to prepare? What distances? (It seems you do altitude training about 3 weeks before competition) What distances on different days? Ratios of calories? Which foods translate into best power and lower (or more muscle) weight? As a Tour cyclist, what is your target weight for the beginning of the Tour (given your height)? What, in your opinion, is the ideal muscular frame to compete and win? (little upper body muscle for lower weight over Alps? Or more muscle for obvious strength?) Climbers obviously do well in the Tour (because time can be gained in big chunks in the Alps), but a good time trial-er has a different muscular frame. You seem to be the perfect mix. I would also imagine that-- over the years, you have determined the exact type of foods that translate into more power output, less weight. Also, I'm curious what you think about about power-to-weight ratios of cyclists, and see how height (length of legs) translates into more power... does it? I am a 5'7" cyclist (not professional), and I'm curious, if there is an "ideal" average height/weight of a Tour cyclist, and how a cyclist prepares. Would also love a chapter on the "politics" and psychology of professional cycling... as a cyclist that is disliked (or envied?) within the peleton doesn't probably get very far. :-) Forgive my deluge of questions... they originate because I have so much respect for you as a cyclist, and a person; you approach your challenges with seriousness, dedication, and tremendous intellect. Despite all of the above curiosity, it is clear to me that your intellect is what separates you from the pack-- as much as it is your physique, training and attitude. That's it, I'm done. Go, Texas! Make us proud, Lance! GO GET 'EM!!! You CAN do it!! Attack the Alps! Number 8!!!! We're all pulling for you!!

Besides fame, publicity, personal satisfaction of doing something extraordinary (in fact, seven victories on the Tour de France, are already something extraordinary) and the economic benefits that you could relieve, What does an eighth victory on the Tour de Francecould add to the life of Lance Armstrong?
