    Hi Danny,

First of all i would like to thank you for giving the world such a beautiful and triumphful movie. I salute you for that. My question
    is
"If SlumDog Millionaire was directed by an Indian director how different do you think the movie would have been and also would it have been a worldwide sensation."

I feel that an Indian director would not have given the script total justice.

How true are the scenes in Slumdog pertaining to child exploitation and abuse/torture and why isn't the Indian government shamed into accountability?

  • 3

    Danny,
This is Prashant from Mumbai. I have a question for you. "The Slumdog Millionaire", some people call it a "British Drama Film" , some foreign press call it an "Indian production". The Indians call it a westerners movie. What do you say? where is it from?
    Thank You

Looking into Indian Culture without being part of that is impossible even for genious. Why did you choose to depict country's image in wrong way - Is being british the reason?

  • 5

What really prompted you to handpick Dev Patel, who was raised in UK, to play the 'SlumDog'? Why didn't you reach out to a Mumbai lad?

  • 6

Slumdog is generating some (predictable?) heat from the Indian press and public much as Saawariya did when it opened. I'm in no position to distinguish between the criticisms, but how would you generally respond to them, and have you heard any in particular that resonate with you, especially regarding cultural sensitivities? Thanks....

With all the success and enjoyment of doing a magnificent film in a foreign country like India, Will Slumdog millionaire give you a strong desire now to shoot a film in other countries on world/social issues?

  • 8

I heard that the Azza and Rubina live in a very poor shelter, Are they leaving in a comfortable house now, since slumdog millionaire is growing a staggering amount of money on the box office.

  • 9

    Hi Danny,

What is your top 5 foreign films?

  • 10

Having covered both a gamut of issues for Mumbai-ites in your movie as well as the transition from third world country to 21st century super-power.. as a western voice, what do you think are the key issues and hurdles facing India today to realise its potential, whilst addressing some of the issues (poverty, class & wealth disparity) seen in the film?

  • 11

    Mr. Boyle,
What attracted you to make "Slumdog Millionaire," a film which is not only very different from your own body of work, but from nearly everything else that has come of Hollywood lately?

  • 12

You seem to gravitate towards projects that redefine our expectations of what a genre movie can be (28 Days Later, Sunshine, Slumdog.) What's the key to shaking things up as a filmmaker?

  • 13

With Slumdog Millionaire arguably the best picture of 2008, do you feel pressure, excitement, or a little of both for your next film?

  • 14

You captured Mumbai so beautifully in film and you have incorporated the great cinema of bollywood in Slumdog Millionaire. Now that you acheived a great success of your film in slumdog, are you planning on exploring foreign cinemas in ohter countries that are undiscovered for your future projects and maybe bring it on mainstream like slumdog millionaire?

  • 15

Do you listen to what critics say or do you just ignore them?

  • 16

With the success of Slumdog Millionaire with its Indian storyline,do you think the Hollywood audience is ready and receptive for stories from other parts of the world.

With the success of Slumdog Millionaire with its Indian storyline,do you think the Hollywood audience is ready and receptive for stories from other parts of the world?

  • 18

    Mr. Boyle,

First of all, congratulations on all of the accolades that "Slumdog Millionaire" has accumulated recently. It is a beautiful film, and is fully deserving. You recently cited "Apocalype Now" as your favourite film. I couldn't help but notice a visual similarity in terms of cinematography, and more specifically lighting and production design, especially in the scenes covering Jamal's childhood. Was "Apocalypse Now" at all an influence in these, or any other areas?
Once again, congratulations, and thank you for your time.

As a teenager and Indian-American, I found myself inspired by the plot. Why do you think a fictional story that is unlikely to ever occur has become an inspiration for so many people?

  • 23

Mr, Boyle, how did you handle culture clash problems on the set?

  • 24

First of all , congratiolation ! Did you ever expected such a big succes ?
