How do you deal with the erratic rise anti-Japanese sentiments that sometimes may arise in China?
I have been a student in Fuzhou (2.5 years) and Beijing (1.5 year) and have witnessed various kinds of worrisome situation. Once me and other international students were participating a university sports week event carrying flags from different countries. My Japanese friend went to the toilet and asked me to hold her country's flag. I was waving it around (partly coz it's hot), then a Hong kong friend approached me and whispered to me to put the flag down and take up only my Indonesian flag because he overheard some of the local students who were upset at me waving that flag. Jackie, I think a man of your stature can give a very strong impression and messages of peace and co-existence.
In Bollywood, for example, Shahrukh Khan (Islam) and Amitabh Bachchan (Hindu) strive to act in movies that bring together Hindi and Moslem community.
What message do you want to bring in the movie Shinjuku Incident?
BTW, I am such a big fan and admirer of your legendary movie role and your fresh humour and humility outside the camera.
I adore your son too, he's cute and have done well in making his father proud. -
